Engagement Does Not Affect Ranking in Google
A video conference with D. Müller brought interesting information for users. It turns out that Google does not use the engagement metric to sort content and websites in the search engine.
The question to the expert was as follows:
"Can a page with good engagement metrics and high traffic influence the overall site metrics?"
According to Müller, Google has no idea about the engagement of a specific page, but even if it did have such information, it would still not use it in ranking.
The expert recommended focusing on how well a highly engaging page attracts the target audience. Will such a page rank for the keywords needed by the webmaster, or is the topic different?
As for the overall influence of such a page on the site, it does exist. Usually, other pages are interlinked, and certain signals are sent through links.
Once Google sees a quality page with external links providing the right context, it will send part of the signals to the entire site.
