Google Explained How the Search Engine Works with Video Content
Google commented on how its search system processes video file content. Details were shared in the March episode of the podcast Search Off The Record.
Product manager – Daniel Marshak, highlighted six main types of data for search engine extraction and study:
- audio for recognizing sounds and words found in the video;
- signs, symbols, and headings that segment the video sequence;
- the visual component, which includes living and non-living objects;
- structured data required to understand the video by the search system;
- structured data through which Google locates the video sequence;
- text fragments beneath the video.
Marshak particularly emphasizes the structuring of data, as the search system aims for an in-depth study and understanding of video content. According to the company representative, Google is still “at the tip of the iceberg” in this regard.
In the podcast, Marshak also shared Google’s plans to increase the number of short videos in search results. In the future, this format could be used as an educational material by the search system.
