Google Prepares New Features for YouTube
YouTube remains the undisputed leader in the video (and de facto music) services market, offering billions of content pieces on almost any topic. However, due to the vast number of videos, it can sometimes be challenging to find the information you need. Google is aware of this and is working on new features and algorithms to make content search on YouTube easier. Here’s how Neal Mohan, YT’s Chief Product Officer, described the plans:
The enormous collection of YouTube content has always set us apart. Regardless of what you are looking for, we likely have it on the site. However, we also recognize that users should be able to easily find the videos and information they need. Over the years, our team has invested significantly in enhancing search functionality, and today we are excited to introduce the latest technologies that will help you find what you are looking for.
Google is also addressing another issue – the language barrier. The company has been testing a system for some time that automatically translates not only subtitles but also video titles and descriptions on YouTube. At the moment, this applies only to content in English, but the company aims to include elements in other languages as well.
