Instagram Modernizes Hashtag Searches
A popular social platform has introduced a new feature that allows users to access relevant content and pages from other participants in one place.
There have been changes in the mechanisms that drive the search function. Now, after clicking on a hashtag, users will see an expanded view of results, which includes not only top posts but also the profiles of related accounts.
Developers explained that the update aims to motivate the audience to explore different categories on Instagram, rather than limiting themselves to merely browsing through posts.
This opens up new opportunities for brand promotion and attracting a target audience. Companies’ accounts can now be discovered by potential clients from a wider audience through the interests of the users.
To enhance the visibility of their profile, it is now recommended to strategically use relevant keywords and tags. While the search results by hashtags do not always include posts from featured profiles, relevant accounts usually contain these words in their names or descriptions.
Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, commented on the update in a thread on Threads:
“ We have streamlined the experience with hashtags and search, making it easier for users to find everything in one place. Now, after clicking on a hashtag, you’ll see results related to it. You can also follow/unfollow and report any problematic hashtags. We hope that it will now be easier to find relevant content and profiles.”
